The Wuji Centre is run by Stephan and Mieke Wik. They have been working with Taoist healing and energy work for more than a decade and have been married for over 30 years. They are the authors of Beyond Tantra: Healing Through Taoist Sacred Sex and lead workshops in Taoist Energy Work for couples. Mieke also gives women only trainings.

The Wuji Centre is located in a pine forest in a beautiful and peaceful region of Flanders just next to the Dutch (North-Brabant) border. It is a ten minute walk from the centre to one of the largest nature reserves in Flanders - The Kalmthoutse Heide.

We’ve got a resident red squirrel who lives in a bird house in one of the trees!

What is Wuji?

“Wuji, (
無極), in Taoist philosophy, is the primordial state of non-being, a state of Nothingness and boundlessness or that which is without Bounds or Limits.” (Wikipedia). An explanation I heard once was that Wuji describes the state of the Universe before the Big Bang or the beginning of that which is before form - before Yin and Yang.

I first heard of Wuji when learning Qi Gong. Many of the exercises started with the ‘Wuji posture’. It’s a relaxed and yet fully present stance that allows one to become fully present and aware. To be in the Wuji posture is to connect to that state of ‘formless expectancy’.

So what does this mean in practice, and why did we choose this concept for the name of our centre? Well, the most important concept in Wuji is that of balance. Wuji is about living your life in balance and moderation with less rigidity and less excess. Living in a grounded, calm, and centred manner and responding consciously, rather than reacting, to what the Tao brings our way.
